Bienvenidos a Mexico por los Mundials Sub 21!!

The Under 21 World Water Ski Championships have started right outside Guadalajara, Mexico. The tournament is being hosted by the Lamadrid family. We have been experiencing perfect weather with perfect conditions! The skiing has been fabulous, with skiers already making it into the final rounds to compete. Day one was the preliminary rounds of women and men tricks, and day two was the preliminary rounds for women jump and men tricks. Today is the last day of preliminaries with women slalom and men jump, and that is to be followed up by the final rounds tomorrow. Pictures and results can be found at www.waterskimexico.com

American skiers Caroline Hensley, Alex Lauretano, Olivia McDonald, Erika Lang, Adam Pickos and Zack Worden all qualified to ski in the final trick event that will be held on Sunday. Caroline Hensley and Alex Lauretano will also be skiing in the final jump event along with Nate Smith, KC Wilson, and Zack Worden in the slalom event. GO TEAM USA! Image

2009 World Games Bronze Medalist

The Women's Tournament Water Ski portion of the 2009 World Games ended last night with Kate Adriaensen from Belgium taking the overall gold medal. Manon Costard from France finished with the silver medal and Caroline Hensley from the United States finished with the bronze medal. Individual event winners (slalom, trick, jump) were based upon the preliminary round. Image

Day One of World Games Water Skiing Underway

ImageSite familarization ran quite smoothly yesterday, except for the conditions which were very challenging. Better conditions prevailed Wednesday morning for the women's slalom preliminary rounds. Men's and Women's tricks are scheduled for Wednesday afternoon and Men's slalom and Men's and Women's Jumping is scheduled for Thursday.

Results of Women's Slalom Preliminaries have Kate Adriensen in first with 5 @ 12 m, Caroline Hensley in second with 3 @ 12 m, and Manon Costard in third with 2.5 @ 12m. The top six overall females will advance to Friday's slalom, trick, and jump finals. Results of today's Men's and Women's tricking will be posted later today!

Results of Men's and Women's Trick Priliminaries have been posted. We tricked in the afternoon and had to deal with quite a bit of wind. But through the ruff conditions, Rodrigo Miranda took the top seed with 7880 followed bny Slovakia's Martin Bartalsky with 7040. Alejandro Lamadrid from Mexico finished third with 6690 points. The Women's trick event ended with Caroline Hensley in the top seed position with 6440 followed closely by Manon Coastard with 6390. Kate Adriaensen was third with 6060 points. Image

2009 World Games Underway

Lotus Pond is the venue for waterskiing at the 2009 World Games. 36 countries are sending skiers to participate in slalom, trick, and/or jump competition. Site familarization is Tuesday and the competition is Wednesday. 4,500 athletes are converging on Kaohsiung, Taiwan for the eighth world games which are held every four years in the year following the olympics. Check back for updates once the skiing starts!

USA Team Trials

Shortline Lakes hosted a very sucsessful US Team Trials. The weather was perfect, and we couldn't have asked for a better weekend. Many personal bests and goals were achieved and numerous teams were chosen.

The 2009 Elite US Team to compete in Calgary, Canada this August is Regina Jaquess, Jimmy Siemers, Rhoni Barton, Freddy Kruger, Alex Lauretano, and April Coble. Along with those team competitiors, there will be many independants from the US heading up to Calgary as well.

The 2009 U21 Team to compete right outside Guadalajara, Mexico this October at the Lamadrid's home site is Alex Lauretano, Zack Worden, Caroline Hensley, and Adam Pickos. Alternates for the world championships are Storm Selsor and Olivia McDonald. Image
