Skiers from all around the world have gathered right outside Lima, Peru to compete in the Junior World Championships starting January 7, 2009. This tournament is held biannually and is by far the most important waterski competition for juniors all around the world. Teams have been here for the past three weeks training in preparation for the event. Countries such as Italy, France, Austrailia, Chile, Argentina, Belgium, Slovakia, Mexico, Colombia, United States, Sweeden, Great Britian, New Zealand, and many more have been practicing the past couple days. Official practice started Saturday, January 4, 2009 and will continue until the start of the tournament.

Conditions on site are absolutely perfect with almost no winds to forecast and no rain in site- ever in this area actually. The temperature reaches a boiling hot on site during the day, but there is plenty of shade to sit under. The beach is only 5 minutes off site and there has yet to be a skier fall victim to the bacterias in the Peruvian waters. All have been healthy and hopefully it stays that way.

The New Year passed gracefully as skiers gathered and celebrated together on the beach. The Junior World Championships will kick off the waterskiing season for 2009 and get the season off to a great start.
